Crispin Marsh assumes non-executive role at Sunshine Heart

Sunshine Heart announced today that co-founder Crispin Marsh will relinquish his executive position as director of corporate affairs of Sunshine Heart Inc effective 30 June 2006 to become a non-executive director of the company.
Mr. Marsh is credited for driving the early development of the company from a start up to the progressive medical device company it is today. The company's heart assist device, C PulseTM, has been implanted in three patients with long-term heart failure, the most recent of which occurred two weeks ago at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney.
Mr. Marsh said: "I have been directly involved in the management of Sunshine Heart since cofounding the company with Dr William Peters at the end of 1999. Over the past 5 years, the company has grown from little more than a sketch on a writing pad to a company with a product developed to the point where it is in a long term clinical trial in Australia and New Zealand."
In line with the company's maturation, a number of senior appointments have been made over the last 12 months allowing Mr. Marsh to assume a non-executive role.
"I am delighted that Sunshine Heart has recently been able to recruit a number of excellent and experienced staff, particularly our new COO, Victor Windeyer. This it is a testament to the fact that experienced people in the medical device industry recognise that Sunshine Heart offers a great product for them to take to the market.
"I am very pleased to continue my association with Sunshine Heart as a non-executive director of the company," he said. Mr Marsh will continue to provide Intellectual Property (IP) advice to the company.
Donald Rohrbaugh, CEO of Sunshine Heart, added: "Crispin has made a significant contribution to the foundation and growth of Sunshine Heart and we are very pleased that he will continue to be part of the Board as a non-executive director."
Crispin joins a well respected Sunshine Heart Board, which includes chairman Malcolm McComas from Grant Samuel, Donal O'Dwyer, formerly world wide president of Cordis Cardiology, Geoff Brooke of the premier Australian VC firm GBS Venture Partners, Richard Lin of Three Arch Partners, a leading US based medical device focused VC firm and cofounder William Peters, SHC's medical director."
