Dynamic Hearing Signs Licence Agreement with Gennum Corporation, Consolidating Global Markets for Australian Technology

07 / 04 / 2005

Dynamic Hearing Australia has signed a licence agreement with Canadian-based Gennum Corporation, to supply ADRO technology for Advanta, a new high-end amplifier for hearing instruments. In a non-exclusive agreement, Dynamic Hearing has licenced the technology for an initial three year period with the option to renew. Gennum Corporation is currently a leading supplier of semiconductor chips to a global hearing aid market estimated to be worth US
$2 billion.

The deal represents an important business milestone for Dynamic Hearing and builds on the successful licencing of ADRO technology to European-based Interton in 2004. Gennum Corporation is a leading producer of hybrid and silicon integrated circuits for data communications, audio devices, image processing and video transport. Gennum serves an international customer base which will continue to grow market share for ADRO processing technology.

Elaine Saunders, CEO, Dynamic Hearing said: "Our partnership with Gennum is a very positive development from both a business and technology perspective. Gennum Corporation has an outstanding reputation in the manufacture of hearing aid instrumentation. To be working with such a well-respected company is a ringing endorsement of the strength of the ADRO amplifier. It is also an acknowledgment of the depth and breadth of skills our engineers bring to our partnerships."

"We have a strategy to develop global markets for ADRO through sustainable technology alliances," said Saunders. "As a small company, we're quick and agile with the ability to respond rapidly to market needs. This is a real strength that will continue to ensure the successful commercialisation of our products."

Designed for the OEM market, Advanta incorporates ADRO processing software with Gennum's Voyageur hardware platform to deliver a cost-effective hearing aid solution. Advanta is highly flexible and can be easily customised to a manufacturer's specifications, cutting development time and giving OEMs an advantage in a highly competitive market.

Gora Ganguli, Senior Vice President, Gennum Corporation, said: "We are very excited about our partnership with Dynamic Hearing and the capabilities of our new Advanta product. Voyageur allows ADRO to be adapted to a wider range of hearing losses with fewer problems and the overall sound quality for users is significantly improved.
"We have already received several expressions of interest from manufacturers. We anticipate Advanta will give our customers a leading edge in the hearing aid market."
