Sunshine Heart - Retirement of Director

Sunshine Heart (ASX: SHC) announces the retirement of Malcolm McComas as a director of the Company effective 16 December 2008.
Mr McComas was chairman of Sunshine Heart, Inc. from its listing on the ASX in September 2004 until its last annual general meeting on 30 October 2008 when he retired as chairman but agreed to continue to serve as a non-executive director for a transition period.
The Company's new chairman, Nicholas Callinan, said: "Sunshine Heart is extremely grateful for Malcolm McComas' four years of leadership during which the Company completed preclinical and clinical trials of its C-PulseTM heart assist device in Australia and New Zealand and obtained approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to undertake US clinical trials of the device. He leaves the Company well positioned to address its large market opportunity."
About the Board
Following the retirement of Mr McComas, the board of seven members will consist of five non executive directors and two executive directors:

Dr. William Peters - Medical Director and Chief Technical Officer
Don Rohrbaugh - Chief Executive Officer
