AirXpanders’ AeroForm® Tissue Expander System for Breast Reconstruction Featured on “The Doctors” National Television Show

10 / 03 / 2017

PALO ALTO, CA, United States - AirXpanders, Inc. (ASX: AXP) (AirXpanders or Company), a medical device company focused on the design, manufacture, sale and distribution of the AeroForm® Tissue Expander System, today announced that AeroForm was featured on the "The Doctors", an Emmy- award winning television show distributed nationally in the U.S. by CBS. The segment aired on Thursday, March 9, 2017.

During the segment, Kamakshi Zeidler, M.D., FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon and Managing Partner at Aesthetx in Campbell, California, discussed the benefits of AeroForm for women undergoing breast reconstruction, and her patient, Adrienne South, spoke about her personal experience with AeroForm. Dr. Zeidler served as a clinical investigator for AirXpanders' U.S. XPAND and XPAND II clinical trials and recently performed the first commercial AeroForm procedure at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California in the U.S. following FDA's de novo marketing authorization.

"AeroForm is really a game-changer in breast reconstruction, and as the first U.S. surgeon to perform the procedure I have seen firsthand how this technology can truly change women's lives," Dr. Zeidler said. "I am deeply committed to remaining at the forefront of technological advancements in breast reconstruction so that I can provide my patients with the best possible outcome, and I was thrilled to discuss this advancement on such a widely viewed show."

AeroForm offers a needle-free alternative for women who choose reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy. AeroForm is activated by a handheld wireless controller that administers small amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) up to three times a day, to gradually stretch the tissue to prepare for a breast implant. With the push of a button from the wireless controller, a preprogrammed amount of CO2 is delivered in seconds, allowing the patient to continue with her daily activities while preparing for reconstruction.

"For women facing mastectomy and breast reconstruction, the many processes and choices involved with the journey can feel overwhelming," South said. "AeroForm helped me take control of the breast reconstruction process and helped me complete the tissue expansion quickly and conveniently post- surgery. Working with Dr. Zeidler and having access to AeroForm made my mastectomy and reconstruction experience both life-changing and positive. I was honored to share my personal journey, and I hope that I can help other women in this position."

"With AeroForm now commercially available in the U.S., our next goal is to ensure that both patients and surgeons are aware of and educated about the technology," said Scott Dodson, president & CEO of AirXpanders. "We hope Dr. Zeidler's and Adrienne's discussion of their experience with AeroForm in a national forum will give more women the opportunity to learn about this latest advancement in breast reconstruction."
